Kings Cross N1C, the promotional arm of the property developers who are transforming the area around the station, regularly put on events to promote the public spaces, offices, residential and student accommodation that are transforming N1. Whatever else you might say about them you can’t fault them for pushing the boat out when they set their mind to it – the Battle Bridge event which took place over the weekend of 29 to 31 August was a case in point.
Battle Bridge was a fun two-day family event that featured all kinds of festivities centred around Queen Boudica and her First Century AD conflicts with the Romans, which led to her successfully sacking Londonium when the region’s Roman governor decided it was too much trouble to defend…
There were demonstrations of fighting techniques, stalls on Roman and native food and crafts and even several screenings on the canal of classic movies including Ben Hur and Spartacus.
